What is the DTF machine?
DTF (Direct To Film) is an innovative digital textile printing machine that enables you to print on a wide range of textile substrates while achieving optimum print results. The DTF prints directly onto high-quality transparent transfer film (PET film).
When printing on film, an adhesive powder covers the printed motif. After a heat treatment at 160° to 170°, the transparent film reaches room temperature and can then be easily peeled off. This adhesive film (or sticker) can then be stuck to any textile substrate using a heat press.

DTF: the multi-substrate machine

Direct To Film printing can be used to print on all types of media, whether light or dark. On clothing: t-shirts, sweatshirts, tank tops, jeans; on accessories: caps, scarves, bags, tote-bags; and even on shoes!
DTF printing technology prints on both natural materials like cotton and synthetic materials like polyester.

DTF: high-quality printing

Printing on film is of the highest quality. The result is brilliant colours, high resolution and no crackling. This is because the ink used is extensible, so the garment does not crack when stretched. DTF prints are highly resistant and durable, both in the wash and over time. What's more, the print is thinner and lighter than flex.

What are the stages in DTF printing?

DTF film marking is carried out in 5 main stages using a printing machine and a heat press.

Stage 1: Printing on film

When your file arrives in our printing software, it is sent directly to be printed on film. Our DTF machine then prints your file on transparent PET film, in mirror mode. The coloured inks are poured on first, then the white completes the printing process.

Stage 2: Sprinkling

Once printed, the film continues its journey through the dusting stage. This hot-melt powder is deposited evenly on the still wet ink.
This powder gives the ink great resistance and elasticity.

Stage 3: Curing the powder

Once the powder has been deposited, the film is passed through a high-temperature oven. The powder gels under the heat. This technique gives the ink great resistance and elasticity for a high-quality finished result.

Stage 4: Textile transfer

Once the film has been printed, the strip is cut and placed on the textile, which has been previously installed on the heat press. The heat press is then closed for approximately 15 to 20 seconds at a temperature of 160 to 170 degrees to harden the ink on the textile.

Step 5: Cold peeling

Once the DTF transfer has been completed, leave to cool for a few seconds before gently peeling the DTF film from the textile.
